The Naming Bridge
Three registers for one pattern — each optimized for a different substrate.
| Philosophical | Structural | Operational | Diagnostic | Failure |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sovereign Coherence | Differentiation | Distinction | What is this? | Dissolved |
| Gift Circulation | Connection | Contact | Who’s actually affected? | Isolated |
| Transformative Boundaries | Boundaries | Limits | What is this NOT? | Overflowing |
| Architectural Surplus | Architecture | Infrastructure | What persists without you? | Ephemeral |
Why Three Names
Each naming system is optimized for a different substrate (Claim 3: Substrate Before Signal applied to the framework’s own communication):
- Philosophical — for people who work with frameworks (DSS audience, academics)
- Structural — for people who think in systems and geometry
- Operational — for people who need to do something Tuesday morning
The framework translates itself across registers. This is substrate-independence demonstrated, not naming inconsistency.
Which register did you reach for first? The philosophical, the structural, or the operational? That preference is information about where you currently stand.
